WALTER RICCIARDI is Professor of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery “A. Gemelli”, at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Since 2012 he holds the position of Director of the Department of Public Health of the University Hospital “A. Gemelli” in Rome. President of the Third Chamber of the Superior Health Council, he is also President of the Italian Society of Medical Manager (SIMM) and Director of the Italian Observatory on Health in the Italian Regions.
In 2004 he was appointed board member of the National Board of Medical Examiners of the United States, as well as member of the Technical Committee of the National Center for Prevention and Disease Control of the Ministry of Health. He is Editor of the Oxford Handbook of Public Health and chairman, for the period 2010-2014, of the European Society of Public Health. He is author of over 150 publications in national and international journals.
